“Your daily dose of sailing”
L’ADN Rosewest :
Elegant lines & ease of use, handling and maintenance
French sailboat builder
Since its creation, Rosewest has been viscerally committed to combining exceptional craftsmanship with the most modern design and manufacturing technologies.
All our yachts are dayboats with a distinctive aesthetic. Their unequalled craftsmanship and finishes exude excellence, rigour, elegance and generosity. Their character is racy, generous and clever.
Each one is a comfortable, fully-featured dinghy that can be beached. Transportable, depending on the model, they are ‘habitable’, with a small cabin and two berths for one or two nights on board.
Each boat is the result of several months’ work by Hervé Nollet and its future owner(s). The production stages are planned as « semi-customs » to adapt to the programmes and sailing habits: solo, with family or friends, or in regattas.
The iconic Cape Cod 896, and the recent modernist Cape Cod 767 are perfect examples of « the best of both worlds », a fusion of craftsmanship and technology. When designing a model, we are guided by a single objective: to enable each of our owners to experience instant pleasure and unique sensations. We focus on producing excellence, which is why we only assemble a few boats each year.
We always dedicate the time and resources necessary to ensure that each boat is 100% what you expect. We don’t just build boats, we’ll build your boat.
Hervé Nollet
An atypical course! Founder of an industrial design agency in Paris, he created for 25 years a large number of products, furniture and interior architecture projects.
Industrial designer above all, sensitive to technology, Hervé decided in 2004 to devote himself to his secret passion for the great hours of beautiful pleasure. Unconditional lover of wood and particularly teak , he produces in a first time boats from 8 to 29 feet Entirely made in this essence. He then divides his time between Burma and Brittany . He created a shipyard in Burma that made the bulk work, and sent the boats to Lorient to receive all their finishes.
In 2008, Hervé took on the challenge of building a sailboat for himself that he believed represented the perfect fusion of craftsmanship and technology. The concepts of optimization, ergonomics, and practicality stem directly from his experience as an industrial designer. However, there was no question of creating a standard product; a boat must be generous, personal, and deliver on its promises. After two years of work, the first Cape Cod 896 finally hit the water, and already a few connoisseurs were insisting on small-scale production.
Today, the little family is doing well, with more than 35 Cape Cod “classics,” all different, some with a “family man” character and others more “hot-headed family man.” They live in different regions, the Arcachon basin of course, Brittany, the southeast Mediterranean and Corsica, but also in Italy, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, and as far afield as Norway, the United States between Shelter Island and Flathead Lake in Montana, etc.
In 2022, the latest CAPE COD 767 model was launched. It is resolutely modern, recognizable by its pure lines, the dynamic look of its hull, and its inverted bow. This small sailboat is still an integral dinghy, dayboat, beached, and can be masted independently without a crane and is transportable.
In 2022, the latest CAPE COD 767 model was launched. It is resolutely modern, recognizable by its clean lines, dynamic hull, and inverted bow. This small sailboat is still an integral dinghy, dayboat, beached, and can be masted independently without a crane and transported. On the water, it performs very well and takes off with just a few knots of wind. It is already recognized as a gem by experts and its happy owners. The design choice of a large open cockpit offers surprising comfort when sailing, for both the helmsman and the crew. Like its big brother, the CAPE COD 896, its wide range of coastal navigation capabilities allows for solo trips or trips with up to six people.
Each construction will be a unique story, an encounter with a man or woman who embraces its values far from the norm: staying true to oneself and taking liberties with the fundamentalism of tradition and the dictates of marketing.
At the helm of the Rosewest shipyard, Hervé will be delighted to welcome you and share his passion with you.
